Salty’s Surf, Skate & Tackle is hosting a surfboard swap & fall sale on Saturday, October 20th. It will be a community event, so everyone, with or without surfboards, should go and have fun! We can preview their inventory on their facebook page. It’s worth ‘liking’ these guys! http://www.facebook.com/SaltysTrinidad
The Surfboard Project is a attempt to archive photos of surfboards shaped by the worlds most renowned shapers. Currently, there is no one place on the net that has attempted to archive the enormous amount of surfboards found in peoples garages, old barns, on walls, up in rafters and surf racks.
This project is currently in its infancy and needs your help. If you have pictures of boards your interested in submitted to archive on this site please email to email@example.com
Check out the website here at thesurfboardproject.com. It will become an online surfboard museum.
Board Art Benefit – San Francisco
Here are some of the pictures of the collaboration of Matt Beard and Taiyo Surfboards. Matt is finishing up this board at the Board Art Benefit which will be held at the Sacred Craft Del Mar. The board is an 8′10″ gun, made of redwood, western red cedar, and Port Orford cedar.
Before the board left Humboldt for Del Mar, it was displayed at Salty’s Surf N Tackle in Trinidad for, like, 20 minutes. More of Taiyo’s boards will be shown at Salty’s without notice, so stop by the shop when you come to check waves in the Westhaven & Trinidad area. They have great coffee, and the staff are awesome.
The Board Art Benefit is coming up this weekend, October 8th & 9th, 2011, at Sacred Craft Surf Expo in Del Mar. Taiyo Surfboards is teaming up with Matt Beard, and he will be painting live on our 8′10″ Hollow Gun, a replica of a board shaped by a local legendary surfer. Here is the sneak peak of Matt’s work before glassing.
Logbook, Jan. 1, 1921-Dec. 1, 1922, of the Trinidad, California, Whaling Station
What happened TODAY in 1922 at the whaling station in Trinidad was recorded in this logbook. Strong SE wind and choppy surf… I could see it as if I was there. The ocean ebbs and flows timelessly, and so does the sea inside of me…
16th annual Noll Longboard Classic is happening this weekend on October 1st & 2nd in Crescent City, California.

Matt Beard, Humboldt’s favorite surf artist, and Taiyo Surfboards will collaborate at Sacred Craft Del Mar on October 8 & 9, 2011. Matt will be painting LIVE on Taiyo’s 8′10″ Gun. There will be many other talented artists who are partnering up with such master shapers as Gerry Lopez, Tyler Hatzikian, and more! Check out the list of participating artists and shapers below. It’s nuts.
